3rd’s lead success in BUCS for Trinity

Leeds Trinity Men’s’ 3rd Team led the way for the University last week as they won the BUCS Football Northern 6D title in the final week of BUCS fixtures for this season.

The TASC 3rd team breezed past Sunderland’s 4th side 7-1 at home on the 3G Pitch and secured the title ahead of York’s 4th team.

The title-winning side went the full season unbeaten at home and only lost two games for the whole year, with some commanding performances being put in by the side. Hopes will be high for the 3rd team as this is a fairly young squad, with many players now going on to start their second and third year of study in Horsforth.

The success of the 3rd team was almost replicated by the Women’s Hockey side on the final day; however they missed out on Tier 5’s promotion spot to Durham, losing 4-1 at home to the side from the North East.

Once again there is every reason for the Hockey team to be optimistic, as they won games convincingly throughout the season, notably a 14-0 win away from home, against the University of Leeds 7th team.

There is still one TASC team in BUCS action as we head in to April, with the cricket season set to begin on April 26.

The Men’s side will make the move to Horsforth Cricket Club for this season, and there is a mix of first year’s and more experienced team members this time out too.

It will be something to look out for in the build-up to the first game against the University of Huddersfield in just over a month’s time. The side has been working hard in pre-season and are now optimistic that they can get a positive result after their five fixtures.

In their five fixtures, they will have home advantage in three of those, and it is hoped that their new home at the bottom of Brownberrie Lane will bring them the fortune that they have been longing for.

Hopefully, the cricket team will be able to continue the success of TASC teams this season and there might well be another Trinity side with their name on a trophy come May.
